I’ve enjoyed several trips to its different historical cities and sites. I highly recommend you add it to your bucket list immediately.
๐ No time to keep reading? Go to this booking page, fill out your info, and your airport transfer is arranged!
But the first time I flew into an airport in Egypt was a stressful one. I hadn’t arranged for an airport transfer in any of the cities I was landing in. Lesson learned the hard way.
Flying into a crazy busy airport like Cairo International can be daunting. This is especially true if it’s your first time landing here.

The first time I flew into Cairo, it was a nuisance, to say the least, trying to find a ride to my accommodation. Taxi drivers can be very aggressive, not to mention competitive with each other!
I wasn’t up to haggling over the price after my long flight. I actually ended up paying more than I had to just to get it to stop.
I’ve learned to always pre-arrange a shuttle or airport transfer when I fly, especially in big, chaotic airports. And whether it’s in Egypt or elsewhere, it’s so easy to do.

The Best Egypt Airport Transfers
Travelling in Egypt might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so you don’t want your trip to start with a hassle.
I figured out a simple way to arrange a ride to my hotel or hostel in advance. It’s made arriving in Egypt, or anywhere, a breeze! It got rid of that little bit of dread that I had about landing and then having to deal with it.
It also takes care of the issue of having to rely on an airport cab driver who might not understand English very well. Believe me, it can be difficult to make someone understand where you need to go.
Especially if you’re not sure how to pronounce the name of your hotel.
And believe it or not, it isn’t at all unusual to find an airport taxi driver who is not familiar with the address you give him. You may have them asking you where to find it.
Egypt has some enormous cities, with many, many accommodation options. And new ones are popping up all the time, making it hard to keep up.
But booking in advance solves that problem, too.
An airport transfer service will ensure that you get to your destination safely and in a timely manner. They’ll pick you up from the airport arrivals hall, and take you directly to your choice of destination.
Getting off a plane knowing you have a driver who already knows where you’re going is fantastic. It can help make sure things run smoothly, and it’s great for your peace of mind.
I love knowing that I have safe and reliable transportation waiting for me when I land.
The driver even tracks your flight, so they’ll know if your plane is early or delayed. They’ll adjust pick-up accordingly!
โ๏ธ Booking.com is a really easy and affordable way to arrange your ride from an airport in Egypt. In Cairo, Alexandria, or anywhere else.
An airport transfer can also be more economical than taking a taxi. This is especially true if youโre travelling with a group of people.
With an experienced driver at the wheel, youโll be able to make the most of your Egyptian adventure. Right from the start.
So if youโre planning a trip to Egypt, don’t miss this step of arranging your airport transfers in advance. Itโs one of the easiest ways to ensure your journey is as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.

How Much an Airport Transfer in Egypt Costs
This will depend on how far you have to go, how many people are travelling, and the number of bags you have.
You will also be able to choose a luxury vehicle, which adds to the cost.
I booked an airport transfer from Cairo Airport to my hostel.
It was about a 20 km (12.5 miles) trip, in a regular sedan, and was only US$16. One person, one bag.
That’s 494.45 LE (Egyptian pounds). Don’t forget to add a tip, too. Around 10 – 15 % is standard.
A transfer for up to 5 people would have been about US$25. I paid in advance through the secure website, so I didn’t even have to worry about having foreign currency.
My driver was friendly and chatty, and I got some great tips on what to see while I was in Cairo, too!
I really think that this is the best airport transfer to use in Egypt. It helped me enjoy my flight knowing my ride would be waiting for me, already paid for, and knowing where I had to go.
As soon as you know where and when your return flight will be, you can book that transfer too!
Get a Free Airport Transfer in Egypt!
Another great way to arrange an airport transfer in Egypt is to book accommodations that have a free airport shuttle.
So many people don’t think of checking this when they search for a place to stay. Many hotels, hostels, and even vacation rentals offer a free shuttle service to and from the airport.
If you follow this Booking.com link, it will take you to a page full of great Egyptian stays of all kinds. All of them offer an airport shuttle. But you can get there yourself!
Just go to Booking.com and enter the city you’re looking for accommodation in; press Search. Scroll down the menu on the left until you find Property Amenities – sometimes it’s listed as just Amenities, or as Facilities. Then scroll down that list to find Airport Shuttle.
And there you go. Your list of choices will be filtered to include places that offer an airport shuttle. But be sure to check through the hotel description carefully. Some charge for the transfer, and some offer it for free.
Just choose the one you like best that offers the service for free!
Drive Yourself in Egypt
Driving in Egypt is a little like driving on another planet. A chaotic, high-speed, every-man-for-himself kind of planet.
It’s not something I recommend to anyone not native to the area. It’s absolutely NOT something that I do myself.
But, you may plan to rent a car for your time in Africa. If so, starting your adventure as soon as you land by renting a vehicle may be a good option for you.
Discover Cars is a rental car price comparison website to help you find the vehicle and the price point you’re looking for. They make a point of offering you as many options as possible for just this purpose.
They will also include local rental companies in the mix. You can book your rental and even pay for insurance directly through their website.
But I do highly recommend getting the maximum insurance. And maybe wearing a helmet…
Remember to check with your credit card companies and home auto insurance policy to see if they offer any rental coverage.
If they do, it could save you some money.

Other Ways of Getting Around Egypt
There are a few options for finding your way around while you’re here. Safer ones than driving yourself! Here are the best ones:
โข Uber – Yes, Uber is available in Egypt. So if you use it at home, you should be comfortable with how it works. If you haven’t used it before, just download the app before you leave home. It will tell you just what to do.
โข Taxis – There are a few different kinds of taxis in Egypt. For the best price, look for the older black and white ones driving down the street.
Wave it down by holding your arm out, pointing at the road. When it slowly drives past, shout out the place or area you want to go. If it doesn’t stop, try the next one.
Men can sit in the front seat; women should sit in the back.
โข Metro – This is the way to go in Cairo if you have a longer distance to cover – it’s inexpensive and fast. The train works the same way they all do.
Buy a ticket at a kiosk in the station, and hang on to it until you exit the train. Keep in mind that the first couple of cars are for women only, so they feel safe from harassment.
Find routes and ticket prices on the Metro’s official government website.
โข Hire a Driver – This is the best way to see all of the sights. You can book one of these ‘tours’, depending on where you are and what you’d like to see. Your private driver is a great source of information on the area.
If you look, you might be able to find one that welcomes more than one group. This is one of my favourite ways to meet other travellers.
