Nylon Duffel

A basic duffel with a shoulder strap and hand grabs is perfect - light and easy to stuff into a safari vehicle.

Wheels are the best invention, but on safari they can just get in the way.

A beautiful canvas bag screams safari - but canvas can be a lot heavier. Stick with nylon.

The same with leather - gorgeous, but a quality bag will be heavy.

A backpack is great. Again, nylon is best, and go for a front zipper opening.

Unless you'll be doing some serious backpacking, look for stowable straps. Tuck them in out of the way.

Do your best to travel with a single carryon-size bag. It will make your travelling so much easier.

If you'll be flying in a bush plane at all, be aware of their strict limitations when it comes to luggage.
